Aluminized Steel

Aluminized steel has a ferrous base of non-alloyed carbon steel  and an aluminum coating with 5 to 10% silicon.

The coating commercialized by SINTECROM starts from 120 gr/m2. Among other caracteristics, this material has a very good even surface, excellent inlaying properties, and optimum resistance to heat and corrosion. Besides, due to its almost complete lack of patterns or blooming on its surface, it has a very good finish.

SINTECROM supplies this material in strips, sheets, or blanks according to the customers’ needs, with thicknesses that can go from 0.30 to 2.30 mm. We also cut sheets up to 10 meters long.

USES

It is used for products that require a specific resistance to rusting at temperature, and when the esthetic of the piece is important. At the same time, this material can be used without a glazing process, unless it is a question of esthetic glazing.

Among the inmense variety of products manufactured with aluminized steel, we can find exhaust systems, industrial ovens, oven burners, water heaters, hot-water tanks, heaters, household appliances, cable-carrying trays, and car bodywork panels, among others.

ADVANTAGES

Resistance to temperature: Changes in appearance or coloring are not observed, even under long exposure to 450ºC. At temperatures higher than those, the coating turns into an aluminum-steel alloy, so that resistance to temperature and corrosion is maintained although there may be decoloration. In this way, the coating maintains its properties up to 600ºC.

Heat reflectivity: Aluminizing provides excellent heat reflectivity thanks to its coating fine quality. Thermal reflectivity at 450ºC reaches approximately 80% and is applied to thermal reflectors for toasters, cookers, and gas or querosene heaters, among others.

High resistance to corrosion: Thanks to the coating properties, a fine oxide or hydroxide layer is formed in contact with air or water.

Painting: Painting on aluminized steel gives a much better result than painting on galvanized steel. It can be painted with the same products as the other ferrous rolled sheets, such as: vinyl paints, polyurethane, silicone paints, phenolic paints and enamels.

Weldings: Aluminized sheets withstand all conventional welding systems.
