Galvanized Steel

It is a low-alloy carbon steel, cold-rolled or hot-rolled, suitable for structural usage. It is coated on both sides with a zinc layer of a purity no less than 98%, which is applied by the process of hot-dip galvanizing in order to avoid the oxidation and corrosion that humidity and environmental pollution may cause on the product.

This activity represents approximately 50% of worldwide zinc consumption, and for more than 150 years has been turning into the most reliable and economical process to protect iron against corrosion.

SINTECROM  offers it in different thicknesses with Standard Z180 coating and supplies it both in sheets and in strips.

USES AND APPLICATIONS

Though galvanizing is widely used in the manufacture of a great variety of products that require protection aganst corrosion, its main uses reside in the structural steel used in public works, roads, transmission and communication towers, and structures in areas such as: chemistry, building, water treatment, transport, recreation, maritime, agriculture, mining, among others.

ADVANTAGES

  • Low cost versus useful life-span
  • Low corrosion level
  • Easy to inspect
  • Highly resistant to mechanical damages
